Know About Ants
Ants live in colonies and are close to relatives of bees and wasps. The colony size can number up to 300,000 to 500,000 and some species bite, while others can cause structural damage and can also be a nuisance. Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from wasp-like ancestors in the Cretaceous period, about 140 million years ago, and diversified after the rise of flowering
plants.
